![]() On the right side of the DX, you will find the Next & Previous page buttons. Amazon says this version is able to hold 3500 books nonetheless, it lacks a removable battery and memory card slot (which the original has) and the back is not detachable.Īmzon Kindle dx Review – Keyboard & Buttons: Since the back side of the Amazon Kindle DX is covered in brushed aluminum, the device features a premium quality feel. While two stereo speakers are placed on the back of the device, a 3.5mm headphone jack can be found at the top. While it may have trouble fitting into a purse, it goes into a messenger or backpack with little additional bulk or weight. This is just 2.4 inches wider and 1.9 inches longer than Kindle 2. In all other ways, the Amazon Kindle DX is unchanged. The new graphite color is a lot more attractive and easier to keep clean than the white case that the 1st generation DX featured. The core education crowd may not like this device too much because it lacks note export options and its keyboard leaves something to be desired.Īmazon updated the design of DX by updating the display and giving it a more attractive color. That is what I do with my two Kindles and no issues so far.The Amazon Kindle DX is a very attractive eReader featuring a nice price ($379), updated Kindle software, quicker page turn times, and a crisp, high contrast screen. My advice would be if you are at home or planning to charge, just unplug when led turns green. Because the type of battery, it will not get memory or charge faster but I do not think over night charge will damage or break something. Having said that, I see no reason to leave your Kindle overnight in order to get a charge. I recall to see a limit or suggestion about leaving your device plugged all the time but I don't remember very well if that was in the manual or other site. I'm a software person, not a hardware engineer, but it feels a bit cargo-culty to do so as the green light probably means that the overcharging protection already cut off charging anyway. I was wondering if there's any point in leaving the device charging overnight even if the charging indicator light has already turned green. I also just received my first Kindle DX this week, and the first charge lasted 4 days with lots of use and wireless on (so I'm not complaining yet). However, Kindle DX battery life is not as much as regular Kindle so you should expect about 7 to 10 days with moderate usage or about 3 weeks with very low usage. 1st charge last couple of days because people usually download several books and play with 3G connectivity. You should give a second chance and wait. Now, having said that, 5 days with moderate usage does not sound ok to me, but it depends of how many hours you have spent so far reading (turning pages) and downloading, that's what consume most of the battery life. I must admit initial usage was a bit high, but did not upload hundreds of books and 3G connection was not on all the time. I recharged and gave a 2nd chance, and depleted again after 3 or 4 days again. ![]() ![]() On my 1st one, battery depleted after just 2 days of usage. I had to returned my 1st Kindle, a DX one, battery was broken the one I have is working fine. This isn't much of an issue - it's only a matter of plugging it in after all - but I'm getting nowhere near the 3-4 weeks Amazon promise. The only images are book covers (oh, and some really ugly dead authors )ĥ days for me is about 20 hours of use, about 2-3 books. ![]() I have to re-charge after about 5 days, is this normal?Ģ-300 books on device - about 10% of memory only
